Samsung Mobile chief product officer leaves company
Kevin Packingham has been the chief product officer at Samsung Mobile
for the past two years, but as of Tuesday, he is no longer with the
company. The reason for the departure is unknown and it’s unclear
whether it’s voluntary or not.
“Kevin Packingham has departed Samsung Mobile,” said Ashley Wimberly, a Samsung Mobile spokeswoman, in a statement. “We thank Kevin for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Kevin was instrumental in the global unveiling of the Galaxy S III
and somehow convinced all the U.S. carriers to carry the phone. His
argument was that Samsung was going to spend a lot of money on a major
marketing campaign. He and Samsung obviously delivered on that promise
and the rest is history.
As far as a replacement goes, Samsung didn’t name anyone.
