Xiaomi unveils the Mi3, flagship specs at an affordable price

Some of you might not have heard of Xiaomi, but you will pretty soon now that Hugo Barra joined the company. Xiaomi is known for making quality phones at affordable prices, but they never leave China. They just announced their latest, the Mi3, which features a 5-inch 1080p display, a NVIDIA Tegra 4 or Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM, Sony 13MP rear camera with  f/2.2 aperture, and 3,050mAh battery. Plus it’s only 8.1mm thick.
What do you think a phone like this should cost off contract? Probably at least $600 right? Wrong!! The Mi3 is going to cost 999 yuan ($327) for the 16GB model. Even the 64GB model is cheaper than any flagship, 2499 yuan ($410). Xiaomi is known for selling their devices in batches, and that will continue with the Mi3. The first batch will go on sale by mid-October in China.
Now that Hugo Barra is onboard, let’s hope that we start seeing Xiaomi products outside of China in the near future.
