In a very cool publicity stunt, LG sent the G2 to space to film Earth. As you can imagine, this is no easy undertaking. It took 45 days of preparation that yielded 58 hours of video. Not to mention serious weather conditions. Eventually LG was able to get the G2 up by balloon and took some amazing footage at low altitudes and as high as the troposphere and stratosphere. That’s upwards of 18 miles where the temperature is -58 degrees F.
What is most amazing is the breaktaking video that the G2 was able to achieve. Unlike the Galaxy Note III, the G2 has optical image stabilization (OIS). In fact it’s the only smartphone with a 13MP camera that sports OIS. As you can imagine, the G2 hanging from a balloon had some serious shake to it, but the video is very smooth. The other factor is low light. Just take a look at the footage from the stratosphere and you will see how the G2 shined in low light.
The Optimus G Pro’s camera impressed me, so I can only imagine how good the G2 camera is going to be. Hit the break to check it out.
